Jewellery inspired by place

Air & Stone Jewellery was founded in 2025 by me, Caroline Reed, borne from a lifelong love of making things by hand and an impulsive silver ring-making class.

At the time, jewellery making was an antidote to the stresses of everyday work and a way to be off-screen and present, using my hands, perhaps with something pretty and wearable at the end. But something clicked when I made my first rings and from that moment on, I couldn't stop thinking about what to make next. There's a kind of magic in taking raw metals, or some simple jewellers' wax, and with an idea and some patience, forming an object that means something and can last forever. 

One class became another. Then came experimenting at home, learning new techniques, working with different metals and slowly filling a small studio at the top of the stairs with tools, wax, silver, gold and half-finished ideas.

Before long, those experiments became a successful Etsy shop. What began as a creative escape had grown into something much more meaningful: a jewellery practice shaped by curiosity, craftsmanship and a desire to make pieces that feel personal and tell a story. 

Inspired by Scotland

I've lived in Scotland for the last 14 years, and always had an affinity with the landscape, changing weather and shifting light. 

It is this sense of everyday magic that sits at the heart of Air & Stone.

My collections take their inspiration from the elemental qualities of the land: the soft movement of mists, the gentle flow of an ancient loch, and the eternal presence of the hills and mountains.

These landscapes aren't recreated literally. Instead, I translate them into form, texture and feeling, through hand-crafted wax, precious metals and carefully chosen stones.

Each piece is made slowly and intentionally by my hands, with the small variations and marks of the making process left as part of its character.

In world consumed by technology, there is value in humans crafting real, solid, slightly imperfect things that tell stories - whether you're buying a future heirloom or a piece you wear everyday.
